If I've learned one thing through my journey in mommahood, it's the value of carving out time for myself. Momma time means doing something you love. Doing something for you. Doing something to make you feel human. Yes, it's easy to get swept up in everything that involves the babes, but remember, if momma ain't happy, babes aren't happy.
For me momma time means crafting it up, reading, or sitting, enjoying my Diet Coke before it's gone flat. (The struggle is real on flat Diet Coke folks). Now I have to confess, it hasn't always and it is not always easy to find momma time ; especially with a husband who coaches. I'm also guilty of not allowing myself the time and focusing on all the tasks running a household while working fulltime holds. Yes, I had a clean home, but I my mind was clouded from not giving myself any momma time.
Over the pass two years and two babes later, I've figured out small ways to carve in some of that time. Here are a few of my quick tips:
- When your babes finally tucker out for the night, choose one chore to do. Stick to that one chore, do not worry about what else needs to be done and give yourself that momma time.
- Slowly create your crafts. Rushing through or expecting to complete something in one setting is sometimes unrealistic and makes it where you will put off and not attempt the craft at all.
- When I create on my Cameo, I design what I plan on cutting during naptime or quiet time. Later that day, after bedtime, or even sometimes a few days later, I'll take the time to cut the design. Same with the weeding of the design and applying the design. I do it small steps and when time is found. This takes away a lot of the stress and makes it more enjoyable.
- Don't forget momma time can include the babes too! I love crafting and love finding crafts that my babes can do with me. It's a win-win. Or find a craft they can work on while you create yours.
- I'm a firm believer in modeling behaviors for the babes. So I let them see me read and encourage them to read during quiet time.
- Lastly, the best little trick, don't be afraid to ask your significant other to watch the kiddos while you take some momma time.
Here's a little something I put together when my hubby took care of the babes this past weekend.
Here's another one of your great projects. The buffalo picture is a house favorite especially for Noah! Great job and great blog. Blog On!
